About the Role

As a Geomatics Specialist / Drone Pilot, you will play a key role in calibrating LiDAR sensors, validating data output performance, and testing new software features. You will work both in laboratory and field environments, in close collaboration with geomatics, software development, and R&D teams.

You will also represent Balko’s technical expertise with clients by delivering training sessions, demonstrations, and technical presentations, both in Canada and internationally.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Calibrate LiDAR sensors for mobile ground platforms and drone-based systems.
Perform quality and performance testing on output data.
Validate new features of the e-LAS software developed by internal teams.
Rigorously document test results, analyses, and validations.
Operate drones to capture LiDAR data, aerial imagery, and GPS ground control points.
Participate in the development and improvement of sensor performance validation methodologies.
Deliver technical training sessions and product demonstrations to clients.
Act as a technical expert at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
Travel within Canada and internationally to support field operations and client activities.

What We Are Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in geomatics or a related field.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in geomatics.
Strong interest in 3D data, LiDAR sensors, and aerial imagery.
High level of rigor, autonomy, and initiative.
Ability to work in field environments and adapt to diverse conditions.
Strong communication and technical presentation skills.
Collaborative and versatile mindset.
Availability to travel in Canada and internationally.
Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written.
